Tottenham Hotspur face league leaders Manchester City this weekend.
Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown has told the Daily Mail that he does not see Tottenham Hotspur overcoming Manchester City on Saturday.
The two sides face off in a massive Premier League game, with Mauricio Pochettino’s side knowing they need to get all three points to stand any chance of mounting an unlikely title push in 2018.
City are already 11 points ahead of their nearest challengers Manchester United, with Tottenham 18 points behind and surely out of the race.
That said, stranger things have happened, and if Tottenham can defeat them it could cause a ripple effect, with Keown citing Spurs’ recent victory over Real Madrid as an example of what they can do.
“I don’t see it, but I think it will be close,” Keown told the Mail. “City cannot afford to be complacent.
“Having beaten Real Madrid, Tottenham could view City as a similar opportunity.”
Pochettino definitely has the players to cause City all sorts of problems and ultimately get the better of the Blues, but on their own patch, and in their current form, the runaway league leaders look unstoppable.
Still, that will make any victory for Tottenham that much sweeter.
