Martin Keown believes Christian Eriksen is the Tottenham player Arsenal must keep a hold of.
Martin Keown has warned Arsenal in his ‘Tackle Keown’ column on the Daily Mail website that Christian Eriksen is Tottenham Hotspur’s danger man, instead of Harry Kane and Dele Alli.
Spurs play host to the Gunners at Wembley on Saturday lunchtime, as Mauricio Pochettino’s men look to exact revenge on Arsenal following the latter’s 2-0 win over Spurs in November thanks to goals from Shkodran Mustafi and Alexis Sanchez.
Kane, 24, has scored a huge 31 goals in just 32 league and cup encounters this season, while Dele Alli continues to show quality way beyond his age of just 21 years.
However, former Gunners defender Keown believes special attention must be paid to Denmark international Eriksen, stating he is reaching “new levels” during the 2017-18 campaign.
“Christian Eriksen is looking like the real deal. There is a cutting edge and venom to his play. He could well be the match-winner this weekend,” Keown said.
“We talk about Arsenal paying close attention to Harry Kane and Dele Alli but Eriksen can profit from any space that Arsene Wenger’s side afford Spurs. He has the tools to thunder in a shot or curl one in.
“Eriksen is a slow burner but this season he is reaching new levels.”
The former Ajax star has shown that he is just as capable as scoring as he is creating a goal this season, finding the back of the net eight times as well as turning provider the same amount during his 31 appearances.
The 25-year-old will be tasked with looking to split the Arsenal defence wide open on Saturday, as Spurs look to build on their wins over Newport County and Manchester United.
Three points could see Spurs climb into third, if Chelsea and Liverpool drop points but they will need the likes of Eriksen firing on all cylinders.
