Martin Keown has told Stadium Astro that Tottenham manager Antonio Conte might have “spilled his wine” watching Arsenal beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. The Gunners produced a surprise 4-2 win in West London.
Mikel Arteta made a few changes to his side, bringing in fringe players in Rob Holding, Mo Elneny and Eddie Nketiah – and the latter scored a brilliant brace. Emile Smith-Rowe and Bukayo Saka also scored for the Gunners.
Before the game, Arsenal were three points behind Spurs but had a game in hand – the trip to Chelsea. So, it is a crucial win in the race for the top four – with Tottenham now only in fourth on goal difference.
Arsenal legend Keown reacted to his old side’s superb win amid the race for the top four, claiming that Conte will have been frustrated to see Arsenal beat the Italian’s former club. It sees the top-four race take another turn.
“It’s important to remember that they’ve been here before. They beat Aston Villa a few weeks ago, everyone was patting them on the back, telling them how good they were. They need to focus on getting back into the top four.
“It completely changes everything for Arsenal. Spurs will be looking at this, Conte might have spilled his wine tonight watching that result come through. You’ve got to keep reminding the people that you’re still there.”

It was a performance, and a result, that came out of nowhere. Arsenal were excellent, and after scoring two goals in their last five, they scored four at Stamford Bridge. It is a win that Arsenal desperately needed.
Now, they have the momentum in the race for top four – after Spurs lost their last game 1-0 to Brighton. The difference is only on goals and it might be that May 12’s North London derby proves to be the difference.
