The former Arsenal man believes the Liverpool star will come good again at Anfield.
Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown has been speaking to the Daily Mail about the current situation involving Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge.
Gone are the days when Liverpool were reliant on the England international for their goals, with Sadio Mane, Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino all looking like superstars at Anfield this season.
That has seen Sturridge fall down the pecking order, with the 27-year-old failing to score in eight Premier League appearances to date, only showing his best form when allowed to start in the EFL Cup.
Despite that setback, Keown feels Sturridges’s time will come, as he explained in his Daily Mail column on Thursday afternoon.
“Daniel Sturridge is a player you want in your squad,” he wrote. “You feel that Jurgen Klopp will give everyone a game…and at some point Sturridge will start scoring.”
Despite that Keown admitted that the Liverpool boss will not want to break up his exciting attacking unit for now.
However as with any season, injuries, suspensions and dips in form will all play their part and Sturridge must keep his head up and wait for his chance to shine, as he did in the recent cup clash against Tottenham Hotspur.
