Newcastle United paid a club record fee to bring Almiron to St James’ Park last month.

Miguel Almiron signed for Newcastle on transfer deadline day, and the Toon Army are desperate to see their new hero in action.
Much is expected of the 24-year-old former Atlanta United attacking midfielder on Tyneside, and if his former teammate Kenwyne Jones’s comments are anything to go by, the Magpies fans will be in for a real treat.
The 34-year-old Trinidad international spoke exclusively to the Chronicle, and raved about Almiron’s quality, labelling him as an ‘animal’ on the pitch:
“Miguel loves football. In the beginning, he was very quiet but on the field he’s an animal. He always want the ball and wants to win every game.”
Almiron notched up an impressive 22 goals and 21 assists in 70 appearances in the MLS, and he will be expected to replicate that kind of attacking output for the Toon.

The Newcastle fans absolutely love a cult hero, and the Paraguayan seems to fit the bill perfectly.
Rafa Benitez’s side are next in action on Monday night when they travel to the Black Country to take on Wolves, and Almiron will be hoping to play some part in the game.
The 24-year-old is a really exciting prospect, and judging by Jones’s comments, Newcastle have a seriously good player on their hands.
