Glasgow Rangers winger Barrie McKay is better than Celtic duo Stuart Armstrong and Patrick Roberts, says Kenny Shiels.
Former Kilmarnock manager Kenny Shiels has told The Daily Record that Rangers winger Barrie McKay is better than Celtic duo Stuart Armstrong and Patrick Roberts.
Shiels, who is now in charge of Derry City in the League of Ireland Premier Division, worked with McKay when he was a youth player at Kilmarnock.
The 60-year-old rates the 22-year-old highly, and has claimed that the Scotland international winger is better than Celtic midfielder Armstrong and winger Roberts.
Armstrong has been on the books of Celtic since 2015, while 19-year-old Roberts joined the Hoops on loan from Premier League club Manchester City in February 2016.

“Folk might wonder about that but I’d say he’s ahead of James Forrest and Patrick Roberts in terms of what he can bring to a team,” Shiels told The Daily Record. “His change of pace is better, his ability with the ball is better.”
McKay is one of the best young players in Scotland and has been playing well for Rangers so far this season.
The 22-year-old will prove to be an important player for the Gers as the season progresses.
Rangers are second in the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 39 points from 21 matches.
Mark Warburton’s side are 19 points behind leaders and Old Firm rivals Celtic who have a game in hand.

Al-Gharafa winger Vladimir Weiss, who played for Rangers on loan from City in 2010-11, also seems to rate McKay highly.
Weiss posted the following message on Twitter during the Scottish Premiership game between Rangers and Celtic at Ibrox on New Year’s Eve:
