Kenny Miller has suggested that there was one positive that Rangers can take from their abject first-half display in the Scottish Cup semi-final clash with Celtic at the weekend, The Scotsman reports.

Pedro Caixinha’s men missed out on the chance to set up a final with Aberdeen as they were beaten 2-0 by the Scottish Premiership champions in a game where the Gers offered very little and were completely outplayed by their Old Firm foes.

The defeat has meant that fighting for second place is the Light Blues’ one remaining ambition from the campaign, but their chances of remaining in touch with the Dons will largely depend on how they get on when they face Celtic once again this weekend.

And while Rangers fans will be hoping that the team take nothing from their semi-final performance into the upcoming game, Miller – somewhat sarcastically – suggested that knowing what not to do is the only thing that the Gers could have learned from their most recent outing.

“There are positives we can take from the second half, moving into next week’s game. But listen, there are also positives from the first half – in what we don’t want to be doing next week. As long as we learn from this game,” he said, as reported by The Scotsman.

Given the gulf between the two sides at Hampden Park, as well as throughout the season, Rangers’ hopes may be boosted slightly by the fact that few will be giving them a chance of securing a positive result, and thus, they will be fully determined to prove that they are better than what they have often shown in the big games during this disappointing season.
