Kenny Miller has told BBC SportSound that the injury sustained by Ryan Kent will be a “big loss” for Rangers ahead of their Europa League clash against Spartak Moscow on Thursday night.

Kent, 21, is sidelined through a hamstring injury and joins Kyle Lafferty in missing the clash in Russia, with the Northern Ireland international also struggling for fitness.

The Liverpool loanee has been crucial to Rangers of late, overcoming a difficult start to life at Ibrox with some excellent performances. He has scored three goals and created two assists, clocking up 22 appearances.

But he will miss out against Spartak with the likes of Daniel Candeias, Eros Grezda and Glenn Middleton expected to replace him. Rangers icon Miller believes his absence will hit Rangers hard.

“He’ll be a miss. He’ll be a big, big miss. He’s been a real shining light over the past two months for Rangers. He’s been positive, scoring goals, getting assists. He’ll be a big, big loss,” Miller said.

Rangers currently sit at the top of Group G in the Europa League, after draws against Spartak at Ibrox and Villarreal in Spain, as well as an excellent 3-1 win over Rapid Vienna on home soil.

The Gers go up against Spartak on Thursday before hosting Villarreal at Ibrox on November 29. They then travel to Austria in the final group game on December 13, as they look to qualify for the knockout stages.

Rangers dominated the last meeting against Spartak, but failed to find the crucial goal despite chances for Alfredo Morelos, James Tavernier and Grezda as the two sides drew 0-0.
