Mark Warburton’s side beat the Irish team 7-0 on Saturday afternoon.

Kenny Miller has told Rangers’ official website that their win over Linfield was a great workout that served its purpose for his side.

With the international break meaning a break in domestic football, many teams have taken the opportunity for a much-needed rest.

Not Rangers, though, who have used their free time to travel to Ireland to take on Linfield, largely in an effort to maintain fitness ahead of next weekend’s Old Firm derby.

It proved to be a smart decision for them too as they ran out 7-0 winners in the game, Miller himself bagging four of the goals.

And he says that the game served its purpose for him and his teammates.

“It was a great workout and it definitely served its purpose for us,” he told the club’s official website.

“We’re delighted with the workout and it’s a great result for us. I think that we saw some really good performances from the players and the guys coming back too.”

Mark Warburton will certainly be pleased with both the result and the performance from his team.

He would not have been happy heading into the clash with Celtic on the back of their disappointing draw with Kilmarnock, but this game will make that a distant memory.

Instead, they now take on their rivals full of confidence, which is definitely an ideal situation for them in what should be an exciting game to say the least.
