Much was expected of Eros Grezda when he joined Rangers in the summer transfer window, with the Ibrox club paying Osijek a fee of £2 million in order to secure the services of the Albania international, as reported by The Daily Record.
Grezda, who can operate as a winger or as an attacking midfielder, arrived at Rangers with a strong reputation, but the 23-year-old is struggling to get into manager Steven Gerrard’s team.
The attacker has played just three times in the Scottish Premiership, twice in the Europa League and once in the Scottish League Cup this season, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.
The 23-year-old did not start for Rangers in their Europa League game against Spartak Moscow away from home in Russia on Thursday evening.
Rangers manager Steven Gerrard preferred 18-year-old winger Glenn Middleton to Grezda, who came on as a substitute in the 82nd minute.
Former Rangers striker Kenny Miller has given his take on the situation of Grezda at Ibrox.
Miller said on BT Sport 3 on Thursday evening (5:25pm, November 8, 2018) regarding the omission of Grezda from the Rangers starting lineup against Spartak: “I think there’s clearly an issue there at the moment that he has not quite found his feet at Glasgow Rangers, and the fact that you have picked an 18-year-old kid ahead of him tells a story.”
