Rangers have been enjoying a great season under Steven Gerrard, and could really push on with the transfer window just weeks away from opening.

The Gers sit 11 points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership table, and look to be a much more cohesive unit than Celtic as things stand.

Not many players have been linked with Rangers ahead of January, such is the strength and depth of the squad at Gerrard’s disposal.

One name has emerged though, with The Scottish Sun reporting that Rangers are keen on a deal for Norwich City ace Kenny McLean.

The 28-year-old started out with Rangers and grew up supporting the club, so he would surely love the chance to turn out for the Gers.

Still, Rangers have six internationals in midfield; Bongani Zungu, Ryan Jack, Scott Arfield, Glen Kamara, Joe Aribo and Steven Davis, so where McLean would fit in remains to be seen.

It recently looked like McLean would miss out on such a move. Norwich confirmed last month that he had suffered a meniscus tear, and was looking at four to five months out if he needed surgery.

Now though, Rangers and McLean may have new hope of a January move, as boss Daniel Farke has now suggested that the midfielder will be back around Christmas.

That means McLean should be fit in January if Rangers do want to sign him, and that dream move to Ibrox could still be a possibility – though his focus will understandably be on helping Norwich first and foremost.
