Nottingham Forest midfielder Ryan Yates is reportedly on the radar of Portsmouth.

According to The Mirror (Transfer Live blog, 3:10pm, Thursday, December 6, 2018), League One outfit Portsmouth are interested in signing Yates on a permanent contract from Championship side Forest (click here to read more).
Jackett, though, has said that he knows about Yates.
“I know the player but he’s not someone we’ve made an enquiry about,” Jackett told The News about Yates. “I do know who you mean, though.”

Nottingham Forest exit
Yates has been on the books of Forest his entire professional club football career so far, but the 21-year-old midfielder has been out on loan at various clubs since 2016.
The 21-year-old is struggling to break into Aitor Karanka’s Forest team at the moment, and it would make sense for the midfielder to leave the City Ground in the January transfer window.
Perhaps a loan move would be better than a permanent exit for Yates, who does have the potential and the talent to be a success at Forest in the long run.
Promotion challenge
Meanwhile, Portsmouth are going strong in League One, as they aim to win automatic promotion to the Championship at the end of the season.
Jackett’s side are at the top of the league table at the moment with 47 points from 20 matches, as many as six points clear of second-placed Luton Town, who have played 21 games.
