One of the players Tottenham Hotspur were linked with in the summer transfer window was Kyogo Furuhashi, and given that Ange Postecoglou worked with the forward at Celtic, it did not come as a surprise at all.
Tottenham Hotspur linked with summer move for Celtic forward Kyogo Furuhashi
The Scottish Sun reported in June 2023 that Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou wanted to raid Celtic for Kyogo Furuhashi.
Postecoglou had only just been appointed the Spurs head coach, and he reportedly wanted to go back to Celtic to bring one of his former players, Kyogo.
Spurs were reportedly planning to make a bid of £20 million for the 28-year-old Japan international forward.
However, no move materialised.

Kyogo subsequently signed a new contract with Celtic and is still at the Scottish Premiership champions.
And, before the international break, the 28-year-old scored the only goal in the Old Firm derby to help Celtic pick up all three points against Rangers in the Scottish Premiership game.
Reflecting on that win, Celtic and Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish has raved about Kyogo, noting that he is a wonderful talent and that the Hoops got him for a bargain deal.
Dalglish stated in his Sunday Post column [10/09 print edition], as relayed by 67HailHail: “I need to commend the winning goal from Celtic’s Kyogo.
“It was an outstanding strike and just reaffirmed again what a wonderful talent he is. At a transfer fee of around £4m, he is one of the transfer bargains of the millennium.”
Tottenham Hotspur unlikely to sign Kyogo Furuhashi from Celtic now
We do not think that Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to sign Kyogo Furuhashi from Celtic anytime soon.
That ship has sailed.
The Japan star has signed a new contract with the Hoops.
The Bhoys could win the Scottish Premiership title again this season.
And, they are also playing in the UEFA Champions League.
Moreover, Kyogo will be 29 now in January 2024.
We do not think that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is going to spend a lot of money to bring in a player who would have no resale value.
