Liverpool and Kenny Dalglish have parted company after days of speculation about his role.
News is breaking that Kenny Dalglish is no longer the manager of Liverpool.
It follows a disappointing season which saw the club finish eighth, below Merseyside rivals Everton.
Liverpool won the Carling Cup but lost the FA Cup Final to Chelsea a fortnight ago 2-1.
Dalglish flew to meet owners FSG and John W Henry in America yesterday and after returning there was no public backing.
The Scot, 61, has just completed his first full season back in charge, during his second spell managing the club.
A number of expensive signings he made failed to perform or inspire fans, and his handling of the Luis Suarez affair was roundly criticised in the media, leading to him having to issue and apology.
A club statement is expected shortly.
Former manager Rafa Benitez, who is still revered at the club, is being tipped for the post, while Roberto Martinez and Paul Lambert are among names linked.
