Kenny Dalglish excited by Celtic youngster Anthony Ralston

Celtic defender Anthony Ralston has been given chances by Brendan Rodgers.

Kenny Dalglish has told Sky Sports that he believes Celtic youngster Anthony Ralston could become a Scotland international in future years.

Ralston has begun to break into Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic side recently, and has always impressed when given a chance.

The 18-year-old is not yet part of the Scotland squad, but Dalglish has already seen enough to be impressed by the prospect’s potential.

“We never bring so many players through and we bring through two in the one position who are very, very good in the same position and the young boy Anthony Ralston (of Celtic) might not be too bad either in years to come,” the Liverpool legend said.

“There are a few coming through. That can only be beneficial for everyone.”

Ralston has made a handful of appearances for Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic side, and the Bhoys boss rates him highly.

Rodgers has publicly praised Ralston recently, with the defender likely to receive more chances as the campaign progresses.

Rodgers has expressed a desire to help bring through Celtic’s prized youngsters, and he has already shown a willingness to utilise them regularly.

The likes of Callum McGregor and Kieran Tierney have benefitted hugely from Rodgers’ coaching skills, with the pair both progressing massively in recent times.
