Kenny Dalglish delighted as breaking transfer news emerges from Liverpool

Kenny Dalglish has claimed that Liverpool’s new signing, Calvin Ramsay, arrives from Aberdeen with a ‘fine reputation’, as he told The Sunday Post.

Liverpool announced the breaking transfer news on Sunday that Ramsay has signed a long-term contract with the English Premier League side following his move from Scottish Premiership outfit, Aberdeen, as posted by the club’s official website.

The 18-year-old right-back becomes Liverpool’s second signing of the summer transfer window, after the recent arrival of Darwin Nunez from Benfica.

Ramsay will provide cover for the club’s bonafide right-back in Trent Alexander-Arnold, whilst Neco Williams will be expected to leave this summer.

Nonetheless, this is what Liverpool legend Dalglish had to say about the breaking news emerging from Liverpool on Sunday.

“Calvin Ramsay is the latest Scotsman to join Liverpool, and he arrives with a fine reputation as a player who can have a very good career,” said Dalglish.

“He broke into the Aberdeen side under Derek McInnes and quickly established himself as a first-team regular.

“Naturally, his form attracted attention from many clubs, and Anfield is now his destination. He’s had a good grounding at Pittodrie, and it’s good to see Scottish clubs being handsomely rewarded for rearing their own with a big transfer fee.

“It makes the time and money invested in their academies and scouting systems totally worthwhile.”

THE END OF THE ROAD FOR NECO WILLIAMS AT ANFIELD?

With Ramsay’s arrival, it probably means that Willams will eventually leave Anfield on a permanent basis down the line, that’s if he doesn’t do so this summer.

It seems as though, for now, he will go back out on loan, after spending the second half of the recently-concluded season helping Fulham earn promotion to the Premier League.

Even if Ramsay didn’t join, Williams still needed to go out on loan to earn regular minutes because he will be going to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar with Wales and he can’t afford to be half-cooked.

But, for Ramsay, this is a game-changing move for the Scottish teenager, who will be hoping to go down the same road as the last fullback from Scotland that donned the Liverpool colours.
