Celtic and Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish has suggested in The Sunday Post that Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha should have given his players more than two weeks’ off during off-season.
The former Newcastle United manager believes that the Rangers players should have been given more than two weeks’ off.

“There has been plenty said and written about the length of time the Rangers players will be given off for their summer break,” Dalglish wrote in The Sunday Post.
“It had been suggested they were getting nine or 10 days, and that appeared not to go down well with the first-team squad.
“Since then, manager Pedro Caixinha has decided to give them a full two weeks, and it starts immediately after their final league game of the season away to St Johnstone next Sunday. I suppose two weeks isn’t bad, but in my opinion players need a little bit longer.”
While one can understand why Rangers manager Caixinha wants to start pre-season training earlier than usual, the players’ personal lives and fitness should also have been taken into consideration.
It would not be wise to make the players tired early on in the season. After all, if the Gers get into the group stage of the Europa League, then they would have to play more matches than they have done this season.
Perhaps what Caixinha could do is not make the Rangers players train too hard in the opening few weeks of pre-season.
It is important that players enjoy training, and the Portuguese coach must make sure that his Rangers team are on his side and enjoy their football.
