Kenny Dalglish has stated without hesitation that Andy Robertson will not leave Liverpool after the defender was touted for a move away from Anfield.

Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo have claimed that left-back Robertson is attracting interest from La Liga giants Barcelona and it is suggested that it would take a fee of more than £43 million to prise him away from Anfield.

Since joining from Hull City during the summer of 2017, and after needing a couple of months to settle into Jurgen Klopp’s setup, Robertson is now arguably one of the best left-backs in Europe.

Anfield legend Dalglish questioned why Robertson would want to leave Liverpool amid the reported interest as he confidently stated that he cannot see him parting ways with the Merseyside giants.

“Andy Robertson must wake up every morning and think its Christmas Day,” Dalglish told the Sunday Post. “That’s why I don’t believe he’ll be considering leaving Liverpool for any other football club at home or abroad.

“I’m told he has been linked with a couple of big European clubs. But why would he want to leave Liverpool? Seriously, tell me why?

“Andy has every right to be proud of what he has helped Liverpool achieve in the past 10 months. Week in and week out, he has been hugely influential and his contribution has been enormous. What the team gets out of him in every game is remarkable.”

The Reds recently claimed their sixth European crown in their history when they beat Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham 2-0 in the Champions League final in Madrid.

Robertson played a huge part in Klopp’s side lifting that trophy as the Scotsman, along with fellow fullback Trent Alexander-Arnold have been a key part in Liverpool’s attacking and defensive setup.

It has been a huge rise for Robertson, who has gone from being released by Scottish giants Celtic to playing in the lower leagues for Scotland and now locking horns with the world’s best.
