Newcastle United face big competition to keep hold of Kenedy now.

There is no question that Newcastle United completed one of the deals of the January transfer window by bringing in Kenedy, but there could be a nasty twist in the tale yet.

Newcastle brought Kenedy in on loan from Chelsea, but they were unable to set an agreed price for the winger in the January window.

The Magpies like to bring in players on loan with a view to a permanent deal – just like they have with Martin Dubravka, and Mikel Merino earlier this season.

However, Chelsea resisted Newcastle’s attempts to agree a price for Kenedy.

And the Magpies may now live to regret not being able to get a clause in place in the transfer.

Newcastle’s task of keeping hold of Kenedy appears to be getting harder and harder by the game, as his reputation grows.

The 22-year-old’s brilliant performances have surely raised his price-tag, and they have attracted the attentions of some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

PSG and Bayern Munich are said to be interested in Kenedy, while the Northern Echo claim Tottenham Hotspur are also tracking him.

Without completing the loan deal, Newcastle may well not be in such a comfortable position right now, such is the influence Kenedy has had on their team.

But, having seen Kenedy’s quality, it will have to be seen as a major blow if the Brazilian is not playing his football at St. James’ Park next season.
