Kendrick Perkins believes there is one player in the NBA today who can reach the mantle of Michael Jordan.

Since his departure, many fans in the NBA have been hoping to find the ‘next’ Michael Jordan in the current generation of players.

Few players have come close to His Airness, but Kendrick Perkins claims one NBA superstar reminds him of Michael Jordan.

Kendrick Perkins says Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is similar to Michael Jordan

Kendrick Perkins spoke on SportsCenter after the Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the Phoenix Suns to advance to the NBA Cup semi-finals.

Perkins admitted that Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s game reminds him a lot of Michael Jordan, especially because of his efficiency from the mid-range.

“They have the best player in the world. He’s (SGA) giving me Michael Jordan type vibes. SGA is averaging 32 points…

“Look at what he’s doing at 6’6. He leads the league in made two-point jump shots. We know that Michael Jordan loved to get to the mid-range. 91% of his shots are contested.

“Here’s the kicker for me: He’s shooting 56% from the field! We know that Michael Jordan was one of the greatest scorers, but he was also efficient.

“We’re witnessing greatness right now from SGA. He is shooting 45% from three! I don’t know what else to tell you.”

OKC Thunder are chasing history this season

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s rise to superstardom has been nothing short of spectacular this season, and it has elevated the OKC Thunder to another level.

It’s hard to make the claim that the reigning NBA champions are surpassing expectations, but that is exactly what the Thunder are doing this season.

The Thunder tied the Golden State Warriors for the best start to an NBA season, going 24-1 in their first 25 games.

As things stand, they are on pace to tie, or even surpass, the Warriors’ 73-9 regular season record, which would be an incredible accomplishment.
