Kendrick Perkins did not need a long breakdown to shut down the idea of Stephen Curry being traded from the Golden State Warriors to the Charlotte Hornets.
The proposed deal was always going to trigger a reaction because it involved one of the greatest franchise players in NBA history leaving the only team he has ever known.
Charlotte has the hometown angle with Curry, but Perkins made it clear that he sees the trade idea as fantasy more than anything close to realistic.

Kendrick Perkins laughs off Stephen Curry to Charlotte Hornets trade idea
Kendrick Perkins on X responded after a proposed trade sent Stephen Curry to the Hornets for Brandon Miller, Miles Bridges, and three first-round picks in 2026, 2030, and 2032.
“I gotta better chance of having breakfast with Beyonce in the morning,” Perkins wrote on X.
That was Perkins’ way of saying the idea should not be taken seriously. The package may look big on paper, but it does not solve the biggest issue: Golden State has no obvious reason to trade Curry unless he pushes for it.
Even then, sending him to Charlotte would be a legacy-shaking move for a player who has defined the Warriors for more than a decade.
Stephen Curry trade package makes little sense for Golden State Warriors
The Hornets angle is easy to understand emotionally because Curry grew up in Charlotte and his father, Dell Curry, is part of the franchise’s history. That does not make the trade practical.
Curry remains the face of Golden State, a four-time NBA champion, and the most important player the Warriors have ever had. Moving him for future picks and younger pieces would signal a full rebuild, not a small roster reset.
The proposed return also creates problems for both sides. Charlotte would give up Brandon Miller, one of its best young players, plus major future draft capital for a late-career superstar. Golden State would lose the player who still drives its identity and fanbase.
Perkins’ Beyonce line worked because it cut through the fake-trade noise. Unless Curry himself wants a homecoming and the Warriors decide to tear everything down, this is the kind of proposal that sounds louder online than it ever would in a front office.
