Kemar Roofe has claimed on Twitter that he cannot wait for Leeds United’s Championship campaign to start.

The Whites are less than a week away from their curtain raiser when Stoke City visit Elland Road on Sunday.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side warmed up for the contest with a narrow 1-0 win over Spanish outfit Las Palmas in West Yorkshire.

Roofe was the matchwinner after grabbing a late winner for Leeds, and the 25-year-old is now champing at the bit ahead of next week.

The former Oxford United and West Brom man, a £3 million signing two years ago, has a massive season ahead of him.

It’s probably fair to say that he hasn’t justified his price-tag as of yet, because 11 Championship goals last season isn’t a great return for someone who spent most of the season up front – and three of those came in a hat-trick away to QPR.

However, Roofe certainly has the talent, and an eye for goal on the right day. Consistency has held him back since joining United but he and supporters will be hoping to be a lot more productive this time around.
