Kemar Roofe and Tyler Roberts were among those to feature for Leeds United on Sunday.

Tyler Roberts made his long-awaited Leeds United debut on Sunday in the 1-1 draw at Southend United.

The former West Brom youngster joined Leeds for £2.5 million [Birmingham Mail] in January but injury prevented him from making his bow during the second half of last season.

However, the 19-year-old kick-started his Whites career with a lively half-an-hour cameo after replacing Laurens De Bock in the second half.

Here is how the young striker – and some fans – reacted to the occasion on Twitter:

Kemar Roofe spearheaded the Whites’ attack initially but was unable to influence much in the final third.

However, Roofe and his United team-mates are still in the process of reaching peak physical condition before their Championship campaign – something he reminded fans on Twitter at full time.

Leeds kick off their Championship campaign by hosting Stoke City at Elland Road in 13 days. Roofe and Roberts are both strikers but, ideally, United fans will be hoping that a marquee number nine is leading the line against the Potters in a fortnight.

The West Yorkshire side have been linked with plenty of big-name hitmen this summer but it is looking increasingly unlikely that one will arrive.
