Leeds United attacker Kemar Roofe has told The Yorkshire Evening Post that his team can win against Newcastle United this week.

The Whites will take on Newcastle away from home at St. James’ Park in the Championship on Friday evening.

Roofe, who is 24 years of age and can operate as a winger or as a striker, believes that Garry Monk’s side have what it takes to pick up all three points against the Magpies.

“It’s 50-50, it’s 11 versus 11 and they don’t have any more players than us,” Roofe told The Yorkshire Evening Post. “We’re going to do our best and we’re confident in what we do.

“It’s going to be a massive occasion but at the end of the day it’s just another game. It’s another three points to push us on and cement that play-off place and promotion.”

Leeds will head into the match against Newcastle on the back of a 3-0 victory over Preston North End at Elland Road in the Championship.

The win followed successive defeats to Reading and Brentford away from home in the league.

The West Yorkshire outfit should be confident ahead of the match, but Newcastle will be favourites.

Not only do the Magpies have home advantage, but they also have a better team than Leeds.

While it would not be a surprise if the Whites are able to pick up a point from the encounter at St. James’ Park, it is hard to see Rafael Benitez’s side losing the match.
