Kemar Roofe tops the Leeds United scoring charts in the Championship, but Pablo Hernandez is not far behind.

In comments reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post, Kemar Roofe has joked that he has not entered into any kind of bet with Pablo Hernandez over who will finish the season as Leeds’ top goalscorer – as he is not sure that he is going to get the chance to start another game.
Roofe currently tops the Whites’ scoring charts after scoring 14 times in the Championship. But having missed much of the last couple of months, Roofe has opened the door for Hernandez to close right in.
The Spaniard is now just two behind the forward. Hernandez has scored five goals since the start of March, and given that Roofe is currently having to bide his time behind Patrick Bamford in the pecking order, the striker joked that he will not be looking to put a wager on staying out in front.
“Not at all. If the team keeps winning I’m not going to play,” he said, as reported by Yorkshire Evening Post, when asked if there was a competition with Hernandez.

What is so impressive about the current Leeds side is the fact that the goals have been so spread out amongst the team this term. Five players have scored seven or more, while 13 different members of the squad have found the back of the net at some stage.
That is one of the key reasons why Leeds have been able to keep themselves right in the promotion hunt despite losing key men to injury on so many occasions throughout the campaign.
And having come so close to getting across the line, it is clear that Roofe would not care at all if he finishes some distance behind his teammate if Hernandez has scored the goals that get Leeds to the Premier League.
