Kemar Roofe has never before played at the Hawthorns in a competitive match, despite being at West Bromwich Albion for years as a youngster.

Kemar Roofe has told the Birmingham Mail that he has dreamt of playing at West Bromwich Albion’s home ground for much of his career.

Roofe came through West Brom’s youth system, but was never given the chance to play at the Hawthorns, before he left for Oxford United in 2015.

Since leaving West Brom, Roofe has developed into a wonderful talent, and he is now set to start for Leeds United against the Baggies at the weekend.

And Roofe said: “I learnt a lot and had most of my football education there, which has played a major part in my career to date.

“It will be good to go back to The Hawthorns, I’ve waited a long time to play there in a professional match and this will be my first time.

“I’ve still got the majority of my family in the area, so I’m sure it will be packed at the ground with them.”

Roofe is Leeds’ top scorer so far this campaign, and has a key role to play for Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

Leeds signed Roofe for £3 million (Yorkshire Evening Post) back in 2016, and he has gone from strength to strength since.

West Brom may feel that letting Roofe go was an error now, given his development as a player.

Leeds travel to West Brom in good form, and Darren Moore’s side are under pressure to get a result.

The Baggies have lost their last four matches in a row, and another defeat against Leeds would see serious questions asked around the Hawthorns about which direction their season is heading in.
