The Midlands boy came through the ranks at West Bromwich Albion.

Leeds United picked up an impressive 2-0 win over Aston Villa yesterday as they pushed further up the Championship table.

The result was a deserved one from Leeds and it even saw a first goal for the club’s summer signing Kemar Roofe.

He has put in some impressive performances for the club recently but was still looking for that elusive first Leeds goal.

He nearly got in midweek, with a superb effort against Liverpool striking the post, but it was to be against Aston Villa that he notched his first Leeds United goal.

Speaking to Sky Sports immediately after the game he was obviously over the moon to have scored his first Leeds goal and it could not have come against a better team:

“Massive, massive. I have been working hard for this moment.

“It was good to get it against Villa as well, obviously my local area.”

Roofe is from Walsall and came through the ranks at Villa’s local rivals West Brom before joining Oxford United in 2015.

It was with Oxford he made his name, scoring 26 goals in 48 games to earn his Leeds transfer this summer. Hopefully he can push on and score a similar amount with Leeds in the future months.

Roofe also congratulated his provider. Souleymane Doukara delivered the cross that saw Roofe open the scoring with what was a fine delivery:

“The team worked so hard today for this result.

“I didn’t have to do anything apart from get my head on it so it was a top cross.”

Leeds fans will be hoping they can continue this run of form against Brighton on Friday night as fans begin to wonder, is promotion genuinely possible for the club this season.
