Kelechi Iheanacho hasn’t taken long to make his mark at Celtic.

In just three appearances, he’s already chipped in with two goals and an assist. The match against Red Star Belgrade in the Europa League was another example of what he brings to the side.

Iheanacho came off the bench at half-time, replacing Daizen Maeda, and quickly put his stamp on the game by scoring Celtic’s opener.

It wasn’t just the goal that caught attention. Something he did just before finding the net left James McFadden genuinely impressed.

Iheanacho showed off a bit of that in the win over Partick Thistle, where a clever touch created the space for Sebastian Tounekti to grab his first goal for the club.

But it was his control just before scoring against Red Star that really got people talking.

Speaking on the BBC, McFadden said, “First of all, what a first touch it is. He kills it dead and then reverses it into the far corner.

“It comes from Yang being high and wide and Donovan picking the ball up and driving into space.

“The first touch makes it; it’s incredible. A really composed finish too.”

Given that Iheanacho had limited playing time before joining Celtic, the Nigerian forward has settled in well at Parkhead.

Following his latest showing, Fotmob highlighted Iheanacho as one of Celtic’s top performers, praising the impact he made in just 45 minutes.

With a match against Hibs coming up, it wouldn’t be a shock to see fans calling for Iheanacho to start ahead of Daizen Maeda.
