Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing the Manchester City forward this summer.

The agent of Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho has been speaking to Own Goal Nigeria about the prospect of his client moving on this summer, and it is not good news for alleged suitors Tottenham Hotspur.

According to a recent report from the Daily Mail, City are prepared to cash in on the 20-year-old despite his outstanding scoring record when starting for the Blues.

Iheanacho has found the net an impressive 21 times despite only starting 20 matches, and while he has racked up plenty of substitute appearances over the past few years that record – along with his innate talent – cannot be ignored.

The great and the good of the Premier League will surely try to snap up the young Nigerian if he leaves the Etihad Stadium in the close season. However, alleged suitors Tottenham should not bother pulling out their cheque book according to the player’s representative.

“It’s clear he won’t be sold to a direct rival by Man City, so when I see the reported interest from Spurs, I know if it becomes official it will be dismissed outright,” he told Own Goal Nigeria.

“But Everton and West Ham we will have to wait and see.”

Iheanacho is exactly the type of player Tottenham need: an additional quality goal-scorer to ease the pressure on Harry Kane; a youngster whose value is only going to increase in the years ahead; and a player whose versatility in attack means he could operate out wide for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

The problem is, even if City are foolish enough to wave him goodbye, they are not going to send him packing to a fellow title contender.
