Manchester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho has commented on his future amid links to Everton, Spurs and West Ham.
Manchester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho shoots at goal
Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho has been quoted by the London Evening Standard as saying that he is happy to stay with the club despite speculation over his future.
Iheanacho, 20, entered the season as one of the Premier League’s top young players, having hit an impressive 14 goals in 35 games for City last season.
The Nigerian, who first appeared for City in 2015, was touted as a star of the future, but he has failed to establish himself under Pep Guardiola, and has made very little impact this term.
With seven goals in 28 games, Iheanacho’s goal return is still decent, but he is now City’s third-choice striker behind Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus, and he started just eight games in all competitions.
Iheanacho’s role at the Etihad Stadium means that other clubs could be interested in signing him, and recent reports have suggested that a summer battle for his signature could be on the cards.

The Sun (21/05) reported that Tottenham Hotspur are keen on Iheanacho, whilst ESPN claim that Everton and West Ham United are keen to pursue him in a possible £20million swoop this summer.
Iheanacho’s agent told Own Goal Nigeria that there is no chance of City selling to a direct rival like Tottenham, but felt that Everton and West Ham would have to wait and see with their pursuit of the striker.

Now, Iheanacho has had his own say on the situation, and has been quoted by the London Evening Standard as saying that he is happy to stay with City, and intends to start next season with Guardiola’s men.
“I just keep working with the team and I’m still at Manchester City so I’ll meet up with the boys and kick off the season with Manchester City,” said Iheanacho. “I’m happy to stay at Manchester City and keep fighting to help them achieve what they want to achieve,” he added.
