West Ham United are currently looking to sign Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho from Manchester City. The 20-year-old talent does not appear to have a future at City under the management of Pep Guardiola and West Ham look like they are leading the race to sign the player, with a fee of £20 million being mentioned for the player.

But, as reported by the Daily Mail, a stumbling block appears to be City’s insistence on the presence of a buy-back clause in the deal.

Such a deal should not however come as a surprise to the West Ham board, considering who is now running things at City.

Pep Guardiola is the manager with plenty of former Barcelona staff in the make-up at the Etihad. Buy-back clauses are extremely popular with Barcelona when it comes to selling their players and a similar deal for the City man is therefore no shock.

But it should not put West Ham off his potential signing. Iheanacho is a special talent and one that is worth signing, even if City might snatch him back at a profit to West Ham in the years to come.
