Aston Villa have been attempting to do a deal for Manchester United goalkeeper Sam Johnstone for much of the summer so far.

The 24-year-old is Steve Bruce’s first choice goalkeeper target, after he impressed on loan at the Midlands club last year.
A number of Villa’s Championship rivals are also thought to be interest in snapping up Johnstone.
However, Wyness insists that Villa are still leading the race for the talented youngster’s signature.
“I would hope for something next week,” Wyness said.
“United need to know what they’re doing with their goalkeeping situation before they decide but I think we’re still in pole position, probably for a loan.”
Johnstone’s first spell at Villa worked out very well, when he became Bruce’s first choice in goal.
Johnstone caught the eye with his commanding displays in Villa’s goal towards the back end of last season.
Villa have made one signing so far this summer, bringing in John Terry on a free transfer, following the expiration of the veteran defender’s contract at Chelsea.
