Keith Stroud has been named as the referee for Leeds United’s massive Championship visit to Brentford tomorrow [official site].

Leeds go to Griffin Park on the back of a terrible home defeat by Wigan Athletic, who had 10 men for 75 minutes at Elland Road on Good Friday.

The defeat saw Marcelo Bielsa’s side drop out of the automatic promotion places with three games to go, but the Whites could move back into second place if Sheffield United – ahead on goal difference – drop points away to Hull City.

How have United fared in games officiated by Stroud?

Well, not brilliantly as of late.

The West Yorkshire side have only won one game reffed by Stroud in three years – a 2-1 win over Middlesbrough in November 2017 – according World Football.

He has overseen Leeds matches on six occasions since April 2016, yielding three defeats, two draws and the win over Boro.

In contrast, Brentford have won five of the last six games that Stroud has refereed [World Football] and although such statistics have no bearing on what will happen tomorrow, those who believe in omens might be slightly more pessimistic as a result.
