Paddy McNair joined Sunderland from Premier League rivals Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

Former Manchester United and Newcastle United winger Keith Gillespie has told The Chronicle that Paddy McNair will be a success at Sunderland.
McNair joined Sunderland from Premier League rivals United in the summer transfer window.
The Northern Ireland international, who can play as a defender or as a midfielder, made his Premier League debut for the Red Devils back in 2014.
McNair, though, failed to establish himself as a regular at Old Trafford and left the Red Devils in the summer transfer window.
Former Newcastle and Northern Ireland international winger Gillespie, who is 41 years of age, has predicted the youngster to be a success at Sunderland.

“I think it’s a great opportunity for him to come to the region where the fans are so passionate, to play and learn and potentially make a name for himself,” Gillespie told The Chronicle about McNair.
“What he needs to do is find his best position now and cement his place regularly in the team. Obviously he didn’t have that at Manchester United, and he hasn’t so far at Sunderland but I do certainly think he’s good enough to.”
“Now Sunderland is a great opportunity for him,” added Gillespie. “David Moyes knows him well from his own time at Manchester United and he obviously sees potential. I think he has a great future ahead of him.”

Sunderland are struggling in the Premier League at the moment and are in danger of getting relegated to the Championship.
David Moyes’s side are currently at the foot of the standings with just two points from seven games.
The Black Cats will take on Stoke City away from home at the Bet365 Stadium in the Premier League after the international break.
Sunderland will head into the match on the back of a 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion at the Stadium of Light in the league.
