Former West Bromwich Albion defensive midfielder Keith Andrews suggested on Sky Sports Football last Friday evening (7:08pm, March 1, 2019) that a lot of the injuries that Leeds United have suffered this season are due to head coach Marcelo Bielsa’s training sessions.

Bielsa’s training sessions are hard and can be exhausting, and Andrews – who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports – believes that they are a factor in Leeds enduring quite a lot of injury problems this campaign.

Andrews made the comments ahead of the Championship game between Leeds and West Brom at Elland Road last Friday evening, which the home team won 4-0.

Andrews said on Sky Sports Football last Friday evening (7:08pm, March 1, 2019): “They have had to deal with injuries most of the season. I am sure that a lot of it is down to the training sessions.”

Injury problems

Leeds have had injury issues this season, with Luke Ayling, Barry Douglas, Liam Cooper, Patrick Bamford, Kemar Roofe, Stuart Dallas and Gaetano Berardi all having spells on the sidelines.

Despite the injury issues, the West Yorkshire outfit have done well in the Championship this season and have maintained their high-pressing game.

Injuries have been the major negative for the Whites this season, and if they had all their best players fully fit, then they could have been leading the table by quite a few points.

Leeds are second in the Championship table at the moment with 67 points from 35 matches, just two points behind leaders Norwich City.
