Keith Andrews has told Sky Sports, during their live coverage of the play-off final, that he couldn’t believe how West Bromwich Albion midfielder Chris Brunt played.

Andrews was teammates with Brunt at West Brom for a season and was impressed with the Northern Ireland international.

However, Albion’s experienced midfielder let down his younger teammates last night.

Brunt was sent off cheaply, as he stupidly lunged into a tackle on John McGinn while on a yellow card.

Brunt’s dismissal ultimately proved costly for West Brom, as they crashed out on penalties.

And Andrews simply couldn’t believe that Brunt played so aggressively.

He said: “I played here with him, and I’ve never seen him play like that. I think the emotion of the game got to him.”

West Brom still put up a good fight without Brunt, but they posed very little attacking threat after he was sent off.

The Baggies now face a very important summer, and they could be a high number of players who leave the Hawthorns.
