Keith Andrews has commented on Leeds United and Sheffield United’s battle.

Keith Andrews has admitted that Leeds United are in the driving seat for automatic promotion to the Premier League, but acknowledged that ‘logic’ often doesn’t apply in the Championship.

Leeds will restore their three-point cushion over Sheffield United in second if they beat Wigan Athletic at Elland Road this afternoon.

The Blades beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 at Bramall Lane today to move above Marcelo Bielsa’s side on goal difference.

If the Whites win, they will be three points clear of Chris Wilder’s troops with three league games to play.

Finishing at least second is in the script for Leeds, but Andrews says nothing is guaranteed in England’s second tier.

“Leeds, right now, are in the driving seat. Three points ahead and with the run in they have, you would favour them, but logic and the Championship in the same sentence doesn’t go too often,” Andrews told Sky Sports, speaking before Sheffield United’s win.

“Normally Easter is a big crunch time, it’s the business end, there still could be a twist but Leeds are the favourites.”

Leeds kick off at 3pm and victory would also take them within a point of top-of-the-table Norwich City, who host Sheffield Wednesday at Carrow Road tonight.

But the Latics, who sit 21st in the Championship table, will be no pushovers and holding the Canaries to a 1-1 draw last time around.

Bielsa’s troops will need to play very well but they will have the advantage of having 12 men in the form of fervent fans today.
