Michael Owen has said on Premier League Productions that he wants Liverpool central midfielder Naby Keita to do more of what he did against Crystal Palace.
What’s the story?
Liverpool got the better of Palace 3-0 at Anfield in the Premier League yesterday.
Keita did not start for the Reds, but the Guinea international came on as a substitute for Thiago on 62 minutes.
The goal from the midfielder came in the 89th minute.
The 26-year-old worked hard for Liverpool and scored with a brilliant volley.
What Michael Owen said
Owen was impressed by Keita’s performance, and the former Liverpool striker wants the midfielder do more of what he did against Palace.
The pundit said on Premier League Productions: “I am pleased for him, Keita. I really want to see him do well because in my mind I keep giving him another chance.
“He has not had a real clear run at Liverpool, injuries and stuff like that. I have seen him before playing like that for Leipzig, brilliant.
“I am desperate to see him do well, but he is being a slow-burner at the minute, so he has got to do more of that.”

Making an impact
Keita has had injury problems at Liverpool, and there has also been a strong competition for places.
The midfielder has made 57 appearances in the Premier League for Liverpool so far in his career, scoring five goals in the process.
Keita needs a run of games to show what he is capable of.
It is not easy for any footballer to make an impact when he is not playing regularly.
The question now is whether Keita will get that chance to play four or five games in a row.
