Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers look like keeping Wes Foderingham to compete with Allan McGregor.

Going by recent reports, it looks like Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is going to use Wes Foderingham as his back-up goalkeeper this season – and it’s a brilliant shout if true.
According to The Scottish Sun, the Gers manager is set to loan Jak Alnwick to Scunthorpe United in a move that would indicate that Foderingham is staying put.
Earlier this summer, The Scottish Sun reported that the 27-year-old was ‘certain’ to leave Ibrox, but the Rangers boss clearly wants him in Glasgow and the team will benefit.
Foderingham reminded everybody of his talent between the sticks in the 3-1 League Cup win at Kilmarnock earlier this month. This is a player who can definitely push Allan McGregor and make him fear for his place.
He is still behind the 38-year-old as number one, but the veteran Scot has shown signs that he is prone to lapses in judgement after being somewhat culpable for Motherwell’s last-minute equaliser at Fir Park on Sunday.
McGregor needs to be kept on his toes, a reason to keep improving, and Foderingham is much more likely to incentivise the former Hull City man than Alnwick is.
