The midfielder seems likely to stay at Newcastle United.

Shelvey was tipped to join West Ham, for whom he played as an academy player, but that deal is now unlikely to materialise, with Newcastle eager to retain the services of the midfielder, as reported by Sky Sports.

While Shelvey isn’t the most consistent performer and does have a tendency to lose concentration at times, it seems that keeping him is a wise move by Newcastle.

Perhaps most pertinently, if Newcastle were to let Shelvey join West Ham then they would be strengthening another relegation candidate, which could make their own quest to stay up even more problematic.
