Sheffield Wednesday have a number of players whose permanent contracts expire this summer.

As the season begins to reach its climax, HITC Sport is taking a look at the players who are set to be out of contract this summer and offering our verdict on whether their current club should hand them new deals.

In this part, we take a look at the six Sheffield Wednesday players who, according to transfermarkt, will be available this summer unless they are offered fresh terms…

Vincent Sasso

Vincent Sasso only joined last summer after a decent loan spell at Hillsborough, but it would hardly be a surprise if no new deal was put in front of him anytime soon. The centre-back has been somewhat error prone recently making a big mistake in the defeat to Leeds and getting sent off against Aston Villa last weekend.

Verdict: Release

Ross Wallace

Ross Wallace has been fairly productive this season, scoring five and contributing four assists in the Championship. The 31-year-old has featured fairly regularly which would suggest that Carlos Carvalhal would like to keep him in the Owls’ squad. His ability to make things happen means that he could probably continue to be a useful squad player next season also.

Verdict: Keep

Jose Semedo

Jose Semedo may be a hero amongst the Wednesday fans, but it appears that his days with the Owls are numbered. He has played just four times in the league this term, so a departure seems likely, and is probably the right decision.

Verdict: Release

Cameron Dawson

With arguably the Championship’s most reliable goalkeeper in their ranks, there is probably no need for Carvalhal to make too many changes in the goalkeeping department this summer.

Verdict: Keep

Joe Wildsmith

Like Dawson, Joe Wildsmith appears to have a bright future ahead of him at Sheffield Wednesday. He has looked ready whenever he has played for the Owls, so letting him go would make absolutely no sense.

Verdict: Keep

Urby Emanuelson

Urby Emanuelson joined Sheffield Wednesday last summer, but is still awaiting the chance to make his debut for the Owls. To be honest, it would probably be a surprise if that debut did ever come with the season at such a critical stage.

Verdict: Release
