Fabrizio Romano has suggested that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool could make a move for Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella.

The Italian journalist has reported on his YouTube channel that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is a big fan of Inter Milan and Italy international midfielder Nicolo Barella.

Romano has suggested that the Reds could get really serious about the £154,000-a-week (SalarySport) 26-year-old in the coming weeks.

There has been intense speculation this week that Newcastle United are really determined to sign the Italy international midfielder and are ready to make a bid.

Romano said: “On Barella, I would also keep an eye on Liverpool because Liverpool have always been following the player.

“Jurgen Klopp has always been a big fan of Barella, and so let’s see what happens at Liverpool.”

Should Liverpool bid for Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella?

In our view, if Liverpool are really keen on Nicolo Barella and if manager Jurgen Klopp genuinely wants to work with the midfielder, then the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners should start getting serious about it.

There is no point in Liverpool playing the waiting game now.

We believe that the Reds should start preparing a bid or at least open talks over a possible deal for Barella.

After all, Newcastle are serious already, and, like Liverpool did with Alexis Mac Allister, the Merseyside club have to get a deal done early to avoid paying more.

Barella made 31 starts and four substitute appearances in Serie A for Inter last season.

The Italian star scored six goals and gave six assists in those games.

The Inter no. 23 also scored three goals in 12 UEFA Champions League matches for Inter last season.
