Several players have a golden opportunity to catch Keegan Bradley’s eye at the Wyndham Championship this week.

After the Tour Championship wraps up next month, Bradley will need to make his six captain’s picks for the Ryder Cup.

The main talking point at the moment is whether the 39-year-old captain will choose himself for the team.

The Vermont native is one of the standout players of the season so far, and he’s in 10th place in the US Ryder Cup standings.

Most people seem to think that Bradley will end up playing, and while stepping down as captain would be his biggest decision, he’s still got plenty of tough choices ahead.

Deciding which six PGA Tour players to round out his team won’t be easy.

Ben Griffin has a big opportunity to impress captain Bradley at the Wyndham Championship, which gets underway on Thursday.

Bradley spoke to the media before the tournament, and the Ryder Cup was brought up.

The 39-year-old was asked whether he has been discussing the prospect of acting as a playing captain at Bethpage Black with his vice-captains.

“We have talked about it for about a year now, in case this could happen. So I have a lot of great vice-captains. I am most proud of the guys I have chosen for this role. They have all really stepped up in their own individual way to make our team better and whether I play or not these guys are going to be great for us,“ he said.

Bradley responded when asked about playing with Griffin in the first two rounds of the Wyndham Championship: “This is going to be one of my first times with Ben, so I’m excited to play with him. I have played with Andrew one other time.

“This is a great opportunity for me to see who they are on a golf course, but one or two rounds isn’t going to determine if they make the team or not. But it’s important for me to see these guys and see them in their element but we are looking at a résumé here, not just two rounds at the Wyndham.”

Griffin has shown he can handle the pressure that comes with Ryder Cup golf.

But whether he does enough to qualify automatically or catch Bradley’s eye before September is still up in the air.
