As a keen admirer of anything with a combustion engine, Keanu Reeves was present at the 2025 Italian Grand Prix and explained why the sport of Grand Prix motorcycle racing is ‘pure magic’.

The Hollywood star took time out of his busy schedule to join the MotoGP grid at Mugello for the premier class’s 2025 edition of the Italian Grand Prix.

The race weekend marked the first of two events on the calendar to take place in the Mediterranean country, and the legendary circuit often sits at the top of most motorsports fans’ bucket lists to attend.

It also marked Ducati’s first home race of the year. The Italian constructor had been in fine form since the commencement of the 2025 term, and it looked like they would be taking a sixth consecutive constructors’ championship back with them to Borgo Panigale before the end of the year.

Upon the arrival of the MotoGP grid at Mugello for the Italian Grand Prix, it was also already made abundantly clear that Marc Marquez was the favourite to claim the riders’ crown for the 2025 campaign.

The Ant of Cervera had already taken four winners’ trophies home with him from the first eight rounds, and his pole position on the day prior had him as the favourite to secure another.

During his attendance at the race weekend in Italy, Reeves was collared by TNT Sports for an interview in the pit lane ahead of the Grand Prix.

The 61-year-old, who founded his own motorcycle manufacturing company in 2011, explained his passion for the sport to presenter Suzi Perry, saying, “Riding motorcycles is amazing.

“Watching them race, the competition, the technology, the passion, the stories. Just the way the seasons unfold. All of the quests, the personalities, and everyone involved, including the teams.

“There is a lot of storytelling, a lot of passion, and a lot of people put their lives to it. To see that play out, the energy, it’s just amazing. MotoGP – pure magic!”

Marquez went on to dominate the proceedings yet again that day, securing his fifth Grand Prix in a season that saw the record-breaking Spaniard take home his seventh MotoGP world title.

MotoGP is expected to grow worldwide in a similar fashion to its four-wheeled counterpart, Formula 1

With Formula 1 enjoying a colossal wave of new fans getting into the sport thanks to Liberty Media’s marketing efforts in recent years, MotoGP is expected to undergo a similar boom in the coming years.

The American media conglomerate completed a deal to take over ownership of the premier class in July, with the aim of replicating its successful business model with F1 to increase the global audience of MotoGP.

The multi-billion-dollar deal saw Liberty Media purchase an 84% stake in the sport, while previous owners, Dorna Sports, retained a 16% stake and kept Carmelo Ezpeleta in the CEO position for the foreseeable future.
