Roy Keane told Super Sunday on Sky Sports that Tottenham have a better squad than West Ham’s.

The outspoken TV pundit was involved in another fiery exchange about Tottenham with Jamie Redknapp on Sky today.

The former midfielder believes there has always been a ‘softness’ to Tottenham, which he thinks is in their ‘DNA’, whilst Redknapp thinks Jose Mourinho needs to take more of the blame.

Tottenham host Manchester United in the Premier League later on this afternoon hoping to increase their chances of finishing in the top four.

“There has always been a softness to Spurs,” said Keane. “What happened when they were 3-0 up here to West Ham at home? You think that’s down to the manager? Get the job done! You have got experienced international players there. Are you telling me they cannot manage when you are 3-0 up against West Ham?”

Redknapp responded by saying: “What about when they went to Old Trafford and won 6-1? or 6-2? Outstanding, so what’s happened since then? Now, they are a bad side? Everyone was talking about how good their squad was.”

Keane added: “Kane and Son were outstanding that day. But there is still a softness to them. We have seen all the points they have dropped. Leopards don’t change their spots. There is a softness to Spurs and it will be here for the next 40 years. I think it’s in their DNA. And Mourinho’s tried to change it and make it better.”

Redknapp then disagreed with Keane that Mourinho has made Tottenham better compared to Mauricio Pochettino’s time at the club before he was asked ‘who has a better squad West Ham or Tottenham? And who he would rather coach’

Keane responded: “I will take the Tottenham squad.” Redknapp then stated: “And they are ahead of them in the league, right now.”

Keane added: “West Ham are having an amazing season. A brilliant season.”

At the start of the campaign, Tottenham’s main job was to secure Champions League football, whether that came via the Premier League or the Europa League.

Of course, there is only one path Tottenham can go down now and that’s finishing in the top four, which is out of their hands.

Defensive performances, such as the one against Newcastle last week, won’t help them reach their goal, but at the end of the day, it’s all about results now and that’s how Keane is going to be judged.
