Rangers have been busy in the transfer market this summer, bringing in 10 signings, but manager Steven Gerrard may not be done with his recruitment drive just yet.

Allan McGregor, Jon Flanagan, Connor Goldson, Nikola Katic, Scott Arfield, Ovie Ejaria, Lassana Coulibaly, Jamie Murphy, Ryan Kent and Umar Sadiq have all joined Rangers under Gerrard, with yet another summer of change at Ibrox.

However, Rangers could still be in the market for more new faces, and one position that Gerrard will be prioritising ahead of next month’s transfer deadline is that of centre back.

Goldson and Katic have arrived, but Gerrard wants to bring in a left-footed centre back to add competition – and The Scottish Sun report that Kean Bryan is a new target for the Gers.

Bryan ticks boxes for Rangers given that director of football Mark Allen oversaw his development at Manchester City, whilst he also played alongside Gerrard’s cousin Anthony Gerrard in the Oldham defence last season.

In truth, the 21-year-old should be looking at Rangers’ interest and be keen to jump at the chance to head to Ibrox, rather than continue to sit on the sidelines at Manchester City.

The defender – who can also play in holding midfield – was born in Manchester and has been with City since the age of 11, but at almost 22, he has yet to make a single appearance for the club.

Bryan looks unlikely to break through at City, but there is little stopping him from going away and becoming a success elsewhere; Ben Mee, Kieran Trippier and, to a lesser extent, Greg Cunningham have all proven that in recent years.

If Gerrard does move for Bryan, the City talent will be given a chance to move to another huge club with increased opportunities, and whilst giving up on his City dream will be tough, Rangers present a perfect opportunity for him to thrive.
