Swansea City lost 1-0 to Southampton at St Mary’s on the weekend.

Swansea City suffered their third defeat of the season with a poor performance against Southampton. The only goal of the game came from Charlie Austin, the striker’s first league strike of the season.
The win for the Saints was Claude Puel’s first Premier League victory and a much needed one. The home side were by far the better team, completely dominating the game. Southampton deserved the three points but failed to turn more of their chances into goals.
Gylfi Sigurdsson did have a late chance for Swansea, but saw his low shot saved. An equaliser for the Swans would have been undeserved given the lacklustre performance from the Welsh side.
Southampton deserved the victory
Time to start worrying Swansea?
Francesco Guidolin side lacked any real quality or threat going forward. Striker Fernando Llorente failed to make any impact for the team.
Swansea should be worried, despite a 2-2 draw with Chelsea last weekend – The Swans’ only win this season was against Burnley in the opening day of the season.
The club’s players need to step up and make changes. A tough fixture list coming up for the Welsh side includes matches against Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal – which will be a real test for Guidolin’s team.
Fans are not happy, and have been voicing their discontent on Twitter. Here is a look at the reaction to the defeat…
