Sheffield Wednesday lost 2-1 to Brighton & Hove Albion this weekend.
A goal in stoppage time was not enough to get a result as Sheffield Wednesday suffered their second home defeat of the season after losing to Brighton & Hove Albion.
The visitors opened the scoreline in the 26th minute with a goal from Sam Baldock before Anthony Knockaert doubled Brighton’s lead in the 73 minute. Gary Hooper put the hosts back in the game with minutes to go but it was too late for Wednesday to salvage anything from the encounter.
It was a disappointing game all round for the Owls and their defeat to Brighton was their fifth in the league. Wednesday also lost goalkeeper Keiren Westwood to injury.
Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhal made five changes to his starting line-up with Jack Hunt, Glenn Loovens, Daniel Pudil, Ross Wallace and Fernando Forestieri all coming in for Liam Palmer, David Jones, Gary Hooper and Will Buckley.
Victory was sweet revenge for Brighton, who saw their promotion dreams ended by Wednesday when the two sides last met.
The win for Brighton now means that Chris Hughton’s side remain in fourth with the Owls moving down to ninth.
