AFC Bournemouth picked up a 2-1 victory against Morecambe in the EFL cup second round.

Marc Wilson scored the winner to see Bournemouth edge through to the third round of the EFL cup.

Max Gradel gave the Cherries the lead in the eighth minute. Morecambe put in a good performance, Cole Stockton equalised six minutes after Gradel’s goal for the League Two side.

Wilson on his third debut for Bournemouth scored in the 54th minute to secure the win for the Cherries, and ensure that they join the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea and Everton in the next round.

Despite a victory for the Cherries, Lewis Grabban failed to live up to his £8 million price tag. Fans were frustrated with the striker, as the 28-year-old missed some key chances to seal the victory for Bournemouth.

He was preferred off the bench against West Ham to Benik Afobe at the weekend, and Eddie Howe seems determined to make his investment in the former Norwich striker work, but it wasn’t happening last night.
