Two goals from Theo Walcott was enough to secure a victory for Arsenal, the Gunners dominated the game and put in a good home performance, rarely looking troubled.
Walcott opened the scoreline in the sixth minute, firing home a header from an Alexis Sanchez cutback. The striker scored his second in the 26th minute, with Sanchez again providing the assist.
Arsene Wenger will no doubt be pleased with his side’s performance. In the first half, the Gunners’ speed and cleverness of their passing outshone Basel. Arsenal were exciting to watch and played with high intensity that they have lacked in recent seasons.

Basel couldn’t keep up with the attacking force of Sanchez, Walcott and Mesut Ozil. The trio were on fire and at times looked unstoppable.
Goalkeeper Tomas Vaclik made some good saves to deny Sanchez and Hector Bellerin from scoring for the Gunners. Icelandic midfielder Birkir Bjarnason did come close for the visitors, but Arsenal stopper David Ospina managed to keep hold of a clean sheet.
The Gunners are now unbeaten in eight games in all competitions and currently sit top of group A with 4 points – level with Paris Saint-Germain.
The main challenge for Arsenal this year is continuing this winning streak in both the Premier and Champions League. If Wenger can keep his key players fit, always an if, then the Gunners are a team to look out for this year.
